IAPMO R&T UMC COMPLIANT Tested, Inspected & Certified.
CVS-I kits include the components needed to install your new central vacuum in one specially designed kit. The CVS-I install kit includes intrasystem fittings, inlet components and install accessories. All CVS-I install kits use the finest available ASTM 2158 compliant materials from the industry's best manufacturers including Hayden, Vaculine, Plastiflex, Beldin, Panduit, API and more.

Vacdepot sources intrasystem fittings and 2" vacuum tube used in CVS-I install kits from IAPMO listees which are UMC compliant and all wire and cable ties are UL approved. Every CVS-I Do-It-Yourself central vacuum install kit comes with install manuals and video on CD-ROM that can be viewed on your PC or printed for easy reference along with additional product instructional materials and product video. And for safe delivery, CVS-I install kits include professional packaging for both the fittings and tube, using custom packaging that protects the pipe ends from chipping and damage in transit.

Standardized, Interchangeable & Expandable
Installation kits are available for various application sizes from 1000 sqft. up to 10,000 sqft and beyond. CVS-I Kits are rated for size by the number of valves and the length of tube included (i.e. model U05130RV includes 5 inlets & 130ft of tube). All install kits are able to inter-operate with any other CVS-I install kit with tube sold by Vacdepot and connect with any central vacuum system using standard 2" vacuum tube. Multiple kits may be added together to achieve the materials needed to cover a larger installation. All square foot ratings are estimates based on the amount of pipe and the number of inlets included, some installations may need more or less than the normal amount of materials due to the layout of the home or other special needs. Find the kit you need by measuring your application for the number of inlets required and roughly estimating the tube required for the complete system.

Wide Selection Of Inlets Styles and Colors Vacdepot SV series Install Kits
All Direct Connect inlets have a 2 wire mini-pin high voltage receptacle that interconnects with a Direct Connect type hose to provide power down the hose for use with an electric brush. The SV series kit includes the Hayden SuperValve direct connect inlet which is available in 3 door styles, Full Door, Square Door and Side-Open. Each style is available in various colors, all operate in the same basic manor and all use the same rough-in configuration.

Direct Connect inlets are used most often in homes with carpeted floors where a powered brush is used for thorough vacuuming. Also called a dual-volt inlet or one-step valve, the Direct Connect Inlet provides the additional benefit of all connections (suction hose, low-volt signal, high voltage power) in one wall plate. Unlike universal inlets that require you to plug in the hose and an additional cord at an electrical outlet, the Direct Connect inlet provides all-in-one convenience.

Direct Connection inlets are used most often in new-construction and require that high-voltage is wired to each inlet from the nearest source of constant power - usually an outlet or junction. Homes with primarily hard flooring generally would use the Universal Inlet type for use with a suction only or turbo (air driven) cleaning attachment.

Some builder and homeowners prefer installing the Direct Connect valve during new construction in hard floor homes to remain future proof should flooring type or the soil load change in the future. Direct Connect inlets are compatible with all hose types, even universal, low-volt and zero-volt types. Retrofit installations generally use universal inlets to avoid the extra step of running high-voltage wire to each inlet that may require an electrician, although roughing-in a direct connect inlet is the same procedure as universal inlets in retro-fits. The added expense of direct connect inlets averages about $12./inlet for most systems. Wide Selection Of Inlets Styles and Colors

In addition to the Hayden SuperValve direct connect installation kits we also offer the CVS-I D_EV series installation kits with Vaculine ElectraValve inlets. The primary difference of the two styles are how the high voltage wire is run. With SuperValve each inlet has it's own junction box. Home wire (romex) is pulled to each inlet from the nearest power source within the wall. The inlet door is later wired at the junction box during finish out. With ElectraValve each inlet includes a section of home wire (romex) with a special connector molded onto one end, eliminating the need for a junction box at each inlet. This wire is also connected at the nearest power source and routed in the wall to the vacuum inlet. During finish out the special connector is attached to the inlet door during installation. Both the SuperValve and ElectraValve are UL approved.

In addition to the D_SV series (Direct Connect, SuperValve), Vacdepot also offers the D_EV series (Direct Connect, ElectraValve), U_RV series (Universal Connect, Regular Valve) and U_DV series (Universal Connect, DECO Valve) install kits. Each install kit series includes it's own valve type in either Universal (low-volt only) or Direct (dual voltage inlet). See the similar items tab for all install kit options.

Which Kit Do You Need?
CVS-I installation kits differ in feet of tube per inlet. Most often the more inlets you install the less pipe you will use per inlet, with the average about 20 feet of tube per inlet. Each inlet will cover an estimated 450 - 650 sqft of floor space when using a 30-foot hose. While most installations will need just one install kit, some others may do better by mixing two kits to achieve the number of valves and length of tube you need. Be sure to add additional tube if you have a long run to your power unit, want to add an exterior exhaust or want to add a vacpan sweep inlet. It is almost impossible to have too many inlets, but having too few can defeat the entire convenience of using your new central vacuum system. If you are installing your first central vacuum system you might find our CVS Install FAQ helpful to read before you decide which install kit to order, just look under the related articles tab at the top of this page.

What's Not Included?
You will need a basic set of tools including a 2-3/8 or 2-1/2 inch diameter auger type (preferred) or bi-metal hole-saw type drill bit. A right angle drill is great if you have it, but not necessary in most installs. Common methods for cutting pipe include miter saw or miter box, any method for making straight cuts - just be sure to always debur your pipe cuts. Other components commonly used in CV installations are standard electrical tape for any low volt splices you may want to make and nail guards for new construction installations.

Wide Selection Of Inlets Styles and Colors CVS-I install kits also do not include a muffler, exhaust vent or any of the optional exhaust finish-out. Many CVS power units now include an exhaust muffler so check your model before you purchase an extra. The optional exhaust outlet (vent cover) is available in the accessories section. Exhausting your CVS is a good idea when possible, but optional for all power units except those which are fully cyclonic (unfiltered).

What Are Those Parts For?
Vacdepot's CVS-I installation kits are the most comprehensive in the industry. Our experience in the field has taught us which components will work best for your central vacuum install. All of the fittings and components in CVS-I install kits are the same parts our professional installers use everyday on the job. Most fittings have an obvious function and anyone familiar with PVC will immediately recognize the elbows and couplings used in central vacuum systems. Some fittings are vacuum system specific.

We have the complete list of what each part is named and what it does along with some helpful CVS install tips - just go to the next page.

CVS-I Install Kit Included Parts Defined

Central Vacuum Inlet Door SuperValve Inlet Door (wall inlet, wall valve, inlet valve)
The inlet door is the finishing cover that acts as a valve where your cleaning hose is inserted into the vacuum tubing system. The Direct Connect inlet door is opened to insert the hose and holds the low volt contacts to activate the remote suction motor along with the 120 volt mini-pin receptacle to power the electric carpet brush. While all modern inlets doors have 1.5" ID openings and two low voltage contacts inside the opening, only Direct Connect inlets also have the high voltage receptical in the inlet which is marked 120V.

The Hayden SuperValve was the first, and is still the most commonly use direct connect inlet in the market today. Three styles of Hayden SuperValve are available, each with it's own unique look. The Square Door inlet was the original SuperValve design and is still the most widely installed SuperValve. The Full Door SuperValve added a modern flat panel look to the inlet, removing the inset door and hiding the mounting screws under the door. The new Side-Open SuperValve softened the boxy Full Door inlet with rounded corners and a micro textured finish for a matte look. The side open also has a hidden hinge design while still providing a full 180° opening door like the standard vertical open full door. Side-Opening inlets are also great for tight spaces like a backsplash or near the baseboard where vertical room is limited.

All Hayden SuperValve inlets in CVS-I installation kits include the new reversible flange mounting plate. Because SuperValve mounting plates are designed to work only with SuperValve inlet doors the two are only sold together per UL requirements. The new design lets you choose right or left side stud mounting while still keeping the inlet door oriented in the same opening direction. Since the SuperValve inlet includes a junction box built into the mounting plate it is not possible to run the tube behind the inlet in the upward direction in a standard 2X4 stud wall. The new reversible flange mounting plate also includes a modified junction box that now allows the elbow to enter from the side at 90° which allows mounting the SuperValve in the same orientation (door open down) from either a rise or a drop install. View all Hayden SuperValve inlet colors & finishes.

Vacdepot also offers the EV series installation kits with ElectraValve direct connect inlet doors. All ElectraValves use full door inlets, both traditional vertical or new side-opening. See the similar items tab for the EV series ElectraValve installation kits.

Central Vacuum PVC tubing 2" PVC Vacuum Tubing, ASTM-F2158 Compliant
Central Vacuum Systems use a special size and design tube to carry air and debris to the power unit, which is also the collection system that is remotely mounted usually in an attached garage, basement or utility room. All modern CVS PVC is 2.0 inches outside diameter with a .06" thin wall which differs from typical plumbing pipe. CVS-PVC is an extruded pipe much like regular plumbing PVC with a special smooth bore interior. Vacdepot uses IAPMO certified manufacturers which produce vacuum system tubing to the ASTM-F2158 standard. All CVS-I central vacuum tubing is sold in 4'11" (59 total inches) sections referred to nominally as a 5ft stick. Our new 5' sticks are easy to handle, easy to transport and easy to use on the job in attics, service paths, crawl spaces and other tight areas.
Central Vacuum Low Volt wire Low-Voltage CMG Signal Wire
The low volt wire in a central vacuum system is used to signal the power unit (suction motor) from the wall inlet. Our CSA approved wire is two jacketed solid 22 gauge copper wires in a CMG style PVC outer jacket. Our low-volt wire is round with internal support for easier pulling over and around objects without snagging. Our wire is rolled for easy dispensing and the flexible 22 gauge goes where you want it and stays there. In most installations the signal wire is run next to the pipe system to enable easy inspection of the signal wire. Wire lengths can be spliced with wire nuts or crimps and electric tape.
Central Vacuum PVC cement PVC Cement
CVS-I kits may include Vacuflo brand All-Weather, IPS Weld-On brand PVC710 or equivalent. Clear PVC Cement is a regular-bodied and fast setting PVC for all classes of 2-inch PVC tube. Comes in four ounces metal cans with applicator attached to the lid. One 4 ounce can will cover most applications up to 200 linear feet of pipe and 10 inlets. When gluing CVS-PVC always apply glue to the male side of the connection (pipe or spigot), not the inside of a fitting where it may build up and degrade airflow. Always use fast-set cement for vacuum systems, but do not use special "hot" glues.
Central Vacuum PVC fitting 45° Elbow (ASTM-F2158 / UMC)
The CV5517W 45 degree elbow is the most important elbow fitting in your central vacuum tube system. Makes pipe connections at standard 45 degree angle, safe for intrasystem use (in-wall and attic locations). Using the 45 elbow you can change the direction of airflow with the least impact on your systems performance. Full depth SOCKET type connection on both ends for direct pipe connection. Also available the CV5519W 30° elbow and the CV5538W 38° elbow fittings for angles also used in home construction.
Central Vacuum PVC fitting 90° Sweep Elbow (ASTM-F2158 / UMC)
The CV5510W 90 degree sweep elbow makes pipe connections at standard 90 degree angle, safe for intrasystem use (in-wall and attic locations). The sweep elbow makes long radius turns to maintain airflow and prevent blockages intra-system. Full depth SOCKET type connection on both ends for connection directly with vacuum tube.
Central Vacuum PVC fitting 90° Sweep Tee (ASTM-F2158 / UMC)
The CV5501W 90 degree sweep tee provides a 90 degree branch (3 connection) fitting that is swept for safe use intra-system. Sweep Tee's are used most often in branch lines to connect a drop or rise into the trunk line. Full depth SOCKET type connection on all ends for direct connection to vacuum tube.
Central Vacuum PVC fitting 45° Wye (ASTM-F2158 / UMC)
The CV5525W 45 degree wye is an excellent low resistance fitting that provides three tube connections. One set of tube connections passes through the fitting with the other intersecting the fitting at a 45° angle. Often used in similar locations as the 90 sweep tee including branch lines connecting a drop or rise into the main trunk. Full depth SOCKET type connection on both ends for direct pipe connection.
Central Vacuum PVC fitting Tube Coupling with Stop (ASTM-F2158 / UMC)
The CV5529W stop coupling joins two lengths of vacuum tube together continuously. Used to create straight tube runs. The stop coupling has a centered rib to ensure both tube ends get equal glue surface. Each tube union will require a coupling, however not every tube will end in a union with another tube. Full depth SOCKET type connection on both ends for direct pipe connection.
Central Vacuum PVC fitting Spigot Adapter (ASTM-F2158 / UMC)
The CV5527 spigot adapter is a convenience fitting that lets you join two SOCKET type fittings together to create a custom fitting. Spigot adapters work much like a short piece of tube that is used to connect two fittings together. Spigot adapters convert any SOCKET type fitting, safe for intra-system use. Full depth SPIGOT type connection on both ends for direct connection to fittings.
Central Vacuum PVC fitting 90°Universal Short Elbow (ASTM-F2158 / UMC)
The CV5506W 90 degree universal elbow is short and compact in size and is designed to be used only for connecting the mounting plate of an inlet to the tube system within the wall. The short, tight turn of this elbow is designed to fit within a 2X4 stud wall when used in one direction and when turned the other direction it is designed to fit a 2X3 stud wall. The special design of this elbow works to prevent long objects from entering the tube system. This design also means you should never use short 90 elbows intrasystem because of their clog potential. Each CVS-I installation kit includes a number of short 90 elbows equivalent to the number of inlets plus one extra for backup (two extra for large kits). Full depth special SOCKET type connection on both ends for direct tube and mounting plate connection.
Central Vacuum PVC fitting Tube Strap
The CV5545W tube strap for mounting and tube support. The CV5545W fits over vacuum tube and screws to the mounting surface with two fasteners. CVS pipe should be secured every 4 - 5 feet in most installations.
Central Vacuum PVC fitting 11" Cable Ties UL Approved
From Leco, Panduit or equivalent the 11 inch cable tie is perfect for securing your low volt wire run to your 2" tubing system. Excellent for areas when tube is running against studs and the low volt wire cannot be taped. Easy to use "zip-tie" cable fastener is UV stabilized.
